Reflecting •• The first seven years of adulthood, I was doing things because my parents told me to. be an accountant, be a nurse, be something normal that makes you money. Not a journalist, and definitely don’t be an artist. I bought my first camera on a whim. It was an afterthought to be honest. I like pictures and I have never owned a real camera. When college didn’t work out the way I wanted, the way my parents wanted… I went with what was natural to me. Using my hands. And here we are. I felt like I wasted time in college but had I not gone through what I did I would not be as happy as I am now with my career as a visual artist, photographer, photojournalist. People LOVE for you to be one thing so that they can define you and I say F that.
